This post contains pics and videos from our wayside stop at a fabulous waterfalls along with some pics of the house our nephew Michael is renovating.
Boy the water around here is always warm.
Great for a refreshing swim in the middle of a 2.5 hour car ride!
There was also a spot further down river that allowed for some cliff jumping into that same really warm water. Michael, seen here surfacing from a dive into a small cave did the jump but I passed this time around.
Michael and our 'adopted friend' and guide, also Michael stop to chat after crossing a bridge on the way up to the top of the falls. The water is warm and a really cool aquamarine color.
Look how tiny the folks swimming are when seen from the top of the falls.
Our friend Miguel took this picture of the three of us. We figure he befriended us as he was hoping for a tip of sorts. He approached us telling us we should wear shoes for the hike as there are many prickly plants then he just escorted us around. Very nice guy who also spoke fairly good English.
On our way back to the car we got a close up of what we figured is a termite nest. We see them everywhere in Costa Rica.
Here is a nice video including the sound this fabulous falls made:
Before leaving Nuevo Arenal we did a little outside landscaping work with Michael on his house there. We also noticed that the night before we were to head 'to the beach' on the Pacific coast a landslide took out half of the road out in front of his house.
Although the 'authorities' were quick to cordon off the area Michael says they will probably not get around to repairing it until March. Things move slowly around here in Costa Rica. Glad we were not driving over that when it gave out. Evidently they had 29 inches of rain in November alone!
Below are a few pictures of the house he purchased to use as a home base when he and his young family are here and to Airbnb when they are not. Lots of work to be done but he has grand plans and says most construction material here is very reasonably priced. He also wants to do a lot of adobe work and the clay for that can be had for free.

We replanted some banana trees and moved a large amount of dirt to clear the way for a concrete driveway pad or a foundation pad for a 'casita' he might build. That is a small guest house.
Michael in action with his new machete cutting down a dead banana tree.
View from the kitchen into the living room.
The larger of the two bedrooms is waiting to be walled in.
Meanwhile back at our Airbnb a hummingbird flew in the door and was not bright enough to figure his way back outside. Eventually we caught him and placed him back outside where he belongs.
