Our home for two days was in a place called Playa Portrero.

As usual the roads in Costa Rica blew us away with their potholes, no guard rails and, in this case, a river crossing where we once presumed a bridge was?  The host at the Airbnb said that the road called Monkey Trail might not be passable. There were two of these river crossings but, as other drivers seemed to have no trepidation in driving across the river, even with sub-compact cars, we did what you do in Costa Rica...Pura Vida...just go for it.

Here is a picture of the house we rented up in the hills. The Airbnb description did not demand that you needed a 4X4 vehicle to get there but it was highly recommended.  Our car made it but did have a bit of trouble.  As is usually the case, once you, and your vehicle, get used to these long, hilly, bumpy dirt/rock driveways, it truly becomes second nature.

Below are some of the wildlife we found while at our new place near the beach:

Not as many bats as I encountered during my cave exploration but very cool to see them out in the light

We tried to use the google image search for this rather large toad/frog but no luck.  Cute?

These iguanas are starting to become rather abundant recently.  Still cool enough to snap its picture.

A picture of a tarantula here.  The cigarette butt is there for size comparison.  It did not move at all for us.  We supposed that was a good thing!

Our little porch outside where we ate our meals had the most fabulous view of the sunsetting over the Pacific Ocean through the trees and mountains:

Day two of our stay included Michael cleaning and fileting the fish he caught earlier in the day while spear fishing.  Dinner could not have been any fresher this night.

Our new buddies were very pleasant dogs with us and with each other.  One was named Milo so I named the other Stitch.

After a day of lounging around the town and beach we headed out to a local hike near the beach in an 'up and coming' resort town under construction.

Above is a video on our hike of a hermit crab trying to escape our prodding little fingers.

There were a few overlooks to take pictures from and we chose this one as a sunset option for ourselves

As we still had a mile to go, and the sun already set, there were not many more photo opportunities but we thought this one made a great picture.

Cannot beat these panoramic views around here!

Below is a cool video Michael shot of us on our way back to the car:
