A Bat Cave Tour That Will Sit in My Memory For a Long Time

This post will be a bit different as it will consist basically of one 18 minute video. Michael used his new software to piece together many different videos he shot of our 2 hour tour of the 'Cavernos del Venado'.  We had no idea what to expect here in Costa Rica but have been on many cave tours in the States in the past.  This turned out to be an immersive tour where we got soaked and muddy but came back out of the cave really excited that we had taken the time and risked the unknown to take the tour.

Here we are ready to enter the unknown:

Here is one example of when stalactites grow to meet a stalagmite growing up from the cave floor.  It is called by the locals 'The Papaya'. You can see why:

Thought this 'little' bug was intriguing enough to grab its picture.  It is blind, as the cave is pitch dark expect for the headlamp of the occasional visitor.  It is also deaf and did not seem to mind being handled by our guide:

Enjoy the video!
